Goa Region Orienteering Championship – GOA

The Goa Region Orienteering Championship was successfully conducted with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship, bringing together young navigators from across the region. Hosted amidst the scenic surroundings of Goa, the championship witnessed spirited participation, competitive energy, and exceptional display of navigation and endurance skills.

A total of 145 students from five participating schools competed across multiple categories—Under-17, Under-14, and Under-12, for both boys and girls. The participating schools were:

  1. GAET International School
  2. The King’s School
  3. Dr. K. B. Hedgewar High School
  4. St. Rita’s High School
  5. Santa Cruz Higher Secondary School

The event layout was thoughtfully designed, ensuring that participants experienced real-time map reading, terrain navigation, and decision-making challenges. Each student demonstrated courage, focus, and determination while navigating through the course.


Category-wise Results

Under 17 – Boys

  • 1st Place: Shreejit Vaibhav Gadgil – Dr. K.B.Hedgewar High School
  • 2nd Place: Vedant Shet – St.Rita’s High School
  • 3rd Place: Atharv Kalangutkar – St.Rita’s High School

Under 17 – Girls

  • 1st Place: Urvi V. Desai – Dr. K.B.Hedgewar High School & Ketaki S. Joshi – Dr. K.B.Hedgewar High School
  • 2nd Place: Sara Nishad Shaikh – GAET International School

Under 14 – Boys

  • 1st Place: Sufiyan – Santa Cruz High Secondary School
  • 2nd Place: Muzammil Saiyed – Santa Cruz High Secondary School
  • 3rd Place: Ali Hasan Tashildar – Santa Cruz High Secondary School

 

Under 14 – Girls

  • 1st Place: Sarin Nitin Pokle – Dr. K.B.Hedgewar High School
  • 2nd Place: Mehvish Attar – Dr. K.B.Hedgewar High School
  • 3rd Place: Sadhvi P. Bhandari – GAET International School

Under 12 – Boys

  • 1st Place: Skyler Kroner Fernandes – The King’s School
  • 2nd Place: Blake Fernandes – The King’s School
  • 3rd Place: : Datt Shashank Keni – The King’s School

Under 12 – Girls

  • 1st Place: Anushka Wakil – GAET International School
  • 2nd Place: Amily & Maya – GAET International School
  • 3rd Place: Gorochara Pori – The King’s School

Special Event – Teachers & Parents Orienteering

Adding more joy and involvement to the day, a Teachers and Parents Orienteering Event was also organised alongside the student championship. This friendly competition brought out teamwork, laughter, and healthy participation from educators and family members.
Teachers and parents thoroughly enjoyed navigating through the course, experiencing the thrill that students face during the competition. Their support and energy added warmth and vibrancy to the championship atmosphere.


Conclusion

The Goa Region Orienteering Championship turned out to be a grand success, promoting outdoor learning, physical fitness, and strategic thinking among students. The event strengthened inter-school collaboration, fostered sportsmanship, and encouraged young athletes to explore the exciting sport of orienteering.

A heartfelt appreciation goes out to all participating schools, teachers, parents, volunteers, and organisers for their dedication and contribution in making this event memorable.
